Before We Begin:
Introduction and Consultation: We'll start with a brief chat where I'll introduce myself and explain the process. I'll ask about your medical history, any specific concerns you'd like to address, and answer any questions you may have. This information is kept strictly confidential. I adhere to a professional code of ethics and practice, ensuring your privacy and comfort. Please note that if I have concerns about your safety or the safety of others, I have a duty of care to share this information with appropriate professionals. If you are under 16 or an adult who requires a guardian, I will need to speak with your parent or guardian.
Demonstration: I'll demonstrate the tuning forks I use, allowing you to experience the different tones and vibrations they create. This helps familiarize you with the sounds you'll hear during the session.
During the Session:
Comfortable Setting: You'll lie comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed. I’ll ensure the environment is relaxing and conducive to healing. In some cases you may prefer to sit.
Permission to Touch: I will always ask for your permission before any physical contact. In some techniques, I may gently place the tuning forks on your body.
The Sound Experience: I'll activate the tuning forks and use them in specific ways, either near your body or by gently placing them on specific acupressure points. You'll hear and feel the vibrations, which are designed to promote relaxation, balance, and healing. There may be periods of silence during the session, and there will be a longer period of silence after I have finished playing the instruments to allow integration to occur. I will let you know when it is time to move.
Your Comfort is Key: It's important to understand that everyone experiences sound differently. Some sounds may feel unfamiliar or even slightly uncomfortable at times. Please let me know if you experience any discomfort. Sometimes, staying with a sensation can be part of the releasing process, as it may indicate a shift in energy. I may encourage you to breathe deeply through your mouth on the out breath to assist with this process. However, your comfort is my priority, and we can adjust the session as needed.
Your Role in the Healing Process: You are the ultimate healer. I act as a guide and facilitator, creating a space for your body's natural healing abilities to work. The more specific we are with your intentions for the session, the more effective it can be. We will phrase intentions in positive language, as if the healing has already occurred.
After the Session:
Integration Time: After the tuning forks are no longer being used, we will have a period of silence to allow for full integration of the session.
Grounding and Hydration: I'll offer you a glass of water to help you rehydrate and ground yourself. I will also provide aftercare instructions. It's recommended to take a short walk before driving to fully ground yourself.
Your Journey Continues: The effects of a sound healing session can continue to unfold in the days following.
